giganti ch'abbiamo detti, con propiamente atterrargli nel fondo e ne' nascondigli delle grotte per
sotto i monti; che sono l'anella di ferro con le quali restarono i giganti, per lo spavento del cielo e di Giove, incatenati alle terre dov'essi, al punto del primo fulminare del cielo, dispersi per sopra i monti, si ritruovavano:

And the authority began first of all as divine, by which the divinity appropriated to itself the few giants we have mentioned, by properly burying them in the depths and hiding places of the caves under the mountains; which are the iron rings with which the giants remained chained to the lands where, at the moment of the first lightning bolt from the sky, they found themselves scattered over the mountains:
